New Fiction Confab Draws Nationally Recognized Authors & Features Local Talent
The sixth annual New Fiction Confab features six notable authors to publish new work in 2014 and 2015. This year’s line-up includes Austinites Amanda Eyre Ward (The Same Sky) and Mary Helen Specht (Migratory Animals), and visiting writers Rebecca Makkai (The Hundred-Year House), Viet Thanh Nguyen (The Sympathizer), Akhil Sharma (Family Life), Asali Solomon (Disgruntled).
The New Fiction Confab is an annual program of the Library Foundation that brings renowned fiction writers into Austin’s libraries to read from their work and lead writing workshops for Austinites of all ages. This is a unique (and free!) opportunity for the community to engage with the authors shaping the future of American literature.
This year’s event will again feature the Austin Lit Fair, which allows readers to meet and learn more about Austin-based publishers and literary magazines.
