Everything is Bigger hops outta the pool for a drink and a rad reading. Stoked to host visiting poet James Shea, local writer Sarah Rafael García, local poet Jesse Bertron, and special guest Hannah Kenah.

James Shea received an MFA in poetry from the University of Iowa. He is the author of Star in the Eye and The Lost Novel (both from Fence Books). His poems have appeared in various publications, including Boston Review, Colorado Review, Denver Quarterly, jubilat, The Iowa Review, and The New Census: An Anthology of Contemporary American Poetry. He is currently a Fulbright Scholar at HKBU.

Sarah Rafael García is a writer, community educator and traveler. Since publishing Las Niñas in 2008, she founded Barrio Writers and obtained her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Texas State. Her words have been featured in Connotation Press, LATINO Magazine, IN MY BED Magazine, Flies, Cockroaches and Poets, and has forthcoming publications in the anthologies ContraPuntos III and Outrage. 

Jesse Bertron is co-director of Poetry at Round Top, an annual festival in the Texas Hill Country featuring the nation’s best poets. A native Austinite, he has worked both on and offstage with several local Austin theatre companies, including Underbelly and paper chairs. He will be an MFA candidate in poetry at Vanderbilt University in the fall.

Hannah Kenah is a local playwright and performer. She is a member of the Rude Mechs. Her newest play, Everything is Established, won a couple honors at the recent Austin Critics Table Awards.
